Your Christmas City of the North

This year everything is quite different. In 2020, we will have to do without some of the dear traditions we all love so much. Unfortunately this applies to the Christmas market in Lübeck, which has been cancelled for 2020. But what we can definitely promise you: We will celebrate Christmas and Lübeck will shine for you from the inside particularly radiantly this year. The Christmas partners' network is currently working on alternative concepts to mark the season in a festive mood despite the restrictions. The closer we get to Christmas, many wonderful ideas become more concrete. You will always get the latest information on this page. We hope you enjoy your visit in Lübeck!

We take care of each other and want you to feel safe. Dealing thoughtfully with the challenges of COVID-19 is one aspect of our mindful approach. Please make sure you check the latest updates before travelling.

Wonderful winter magic

In this Christmas period of anticipatory pleasure and longing for warmth and comfort, there is no such thing as too much. Gold, glitter and red wherever you look, the smell of almonds in the air, bells ringing and flurries of snowflakes. At Christmas, you are allowed to take your fill! Countless Christmas stars, lights and decorated trees turn the dark days into an enchanted time and warm the cockles of our hearts. Lübeck's Christmas market has a long tradition. It was first mentioned in records dating back to 1648. And until today our Christmas market offers everythig for your own perfect moment of Christmas happiness. Whether chatting to the craftsmen when buying a hand-made product, over a glass of spicy mulled wine under the pillory, on the arm of your loved one on the giant Ferris wheel or at an organ concert in one of our Gothic churches. What do you dream of at Christmas?

Tune in to our festive playlist!

I will never forget how I loved the magic of Christmas.
