The district is located in the northwest of the Old Town and holds a treasure chest of stories waiting to be uncovered. Discover remnants of times gone by, when sailors enjoyed their days on land and ships set sail to distant shores. One of the highlights in the Seafarer’s Quarter is the legendary Schiffergesellschaft. Here, the old furnishings from sailors through the years transports you back in time. Directly opposite is the Jakobikirche, originally a church for pilgrims, which reflects the city’s rich history as a lively harbour town. Just a stone’s throw away is also the European Hanseatic Museum, which offers a fascinating insight into the golden age of trade which once flourished along these shores.
