The new shipyard quarter

From shipbuilding to creative centre

A fresh wind is sweeping through the historic shipyard area north of Lübeck's Old Town. Where the Trave river separates to embrace Lübeck, a central cultural and creative location has come into bloom. Right next to the five lively event venues of the Kulturwerft Gollan you will find the so called Werftquartier in Hall 48 - the new location for creativity, crafts and co-working. A wide variety of young start-ups have already taken up residence here and there is yet no end in sight - as the saying goes

If you stop getting better, you've stopped being good.

Cycle Roasters

Not only the early bird needs coffee. Good coffee puts you in a good mood, the scent, the taste awaken your spirits. Philip and Sergey are two real Lübeckers and give their love of coffee a home in the Werftquartier. The roastery Cycle Roasters works with very individually selected coffees and transparently traceable supply chains, with a lot of careful attention to detail and knowledge about taste. You can taste and buy the coffees roasted in Halle 48 in the coffee shop on Fleischhauerstraße, or order one of the tasting sets or your favourite coffee directly online. But Hall 48 is not just about roasting, exciting coffee courses are also held here regularly...

Sudden Death Brewing

Kevin Fobe von Sudden Death Brewing Co.

Brewing beer is their passion -Sudden Death Brewing in the Werftquartier, that's Olli and Ricky, nordic by nature people from Timmendorfer Strand. In the US, they discovered the fascinating variety of flavours of the craft beer scene and brought it to Lübeck's Halle 48 in 2022. What began on a small scale with the first brewing experiments at home has now developed into a 20-hectare brewing facility with a prime location in Lübeck's new creative centre. Enjoy the variety of home-brewed beers! Sometimes fruity, sometimes spicy, IPA or Pale Ale: Olli and Ricky taste and create with passion, and you can taste it too. In the Brewpub you can enjoy the beers, matching pizzas and of course the old industrial charms. The Brewpub is also a regular venue for exciting events. Want to learn more about the brewery? Simply book a guided tour of the facility, including tasting of course.

Burning Bricks Distillery

Amid the historic charm of the Kulturwerft Gollan, Burning Bricks Distillery operates beneath large industrial windows – a lovingly run manufactory where craftsmanship meets passion. Founder Kevin Fobe had the vision back in school: to create his own gin – and in the Werftquartier, he found the perfect place to bring it to life.

At the 100 m² distillery on Einsiedelstraße 6, visitors can experience the full production process – from carefully selected botanicals to the hand-bottled final product. Alongside signature spirits like Baltic Wave, Oak Gin, Blossom Gin, Navy Strength Gin, and a refined Lübecker Aquavit, an adjoining bar invites guests to sample and enjoy.

A visit is rewarding not only for lovers of fine spirits, but also for those curious about the process behind them. Whether at guided tastings, workshops, or relaxed after-work evenings – here you’ll meet like-minded people, share ideas, and enjoy a truly special experience at the Werftquartier.

Right in the heart of Hall 48 at the Kulturwerft Gollan, Gusto Mio – meaning "my taste" – tempts visitors with Mediterranean delicacies from its own antipasti and pasta manufactory. Using fresh, high-quality ingredients, the team creates lovingly prepared antipasti, pasta dishes, and a regularly changing lunch menu – all under the motto: "Simply delicious…"

Whether at the bistro or on the weekly markets in Lübeck, Bad Schwartau, and Neustadt, Gusto Mio delights food lovers with carrot-orange-ginger soup, lentil Bolognese, broccoli cream soup, and seasonal asparagus lasagna – always with a focus on regional organic produce.

For private parties, company events or team gatherings, Gusto Mio offers customized buffets and authentic cooking experiences right in the manufactory – perfect for cooking, enjoying and connecting together in the Werftquartier.

A visit is well worth it: at the open bistro, during events or at the market stands, you’ll meet the team around Dirk Schwensfeier – cooking with passion and an Italian flair for unforgettable flavors.
