In the idyllic quarter around St. Aegidien, you almost feel like you're in a small village.
Detailed description
It was the district where craftsmen and so-called "arable burghers" lived.
Have you noticed the plain white gravestone on the outside of the church wall, adorned with a "T"?
The "T" stands for the Low German nickname of St. Aegidien: Tilgenkark.
This name refers to the patron saint of the church of St. Tilgen, as Aegidius of St. Gilles was also known.
He was one of the 14 emergency helpers. Nursing mothers and people in spiritual distress and abandonment turned to him.
