Have you ever seen the bronze door handles on the Epistle Chapel of St. Mary's?
Detailed description
Probably not, because this is not the main entrance to the mother church of brick Gothic, but to the Letter Chapel, one of the 19 chapels in St. Marien. Its name is derived from the scribes who once had their stalls in the chapel. In the Middle Ages, they produced documents, contracts and papers here for people who had no writing skills.
I really like this little detail. The door handles were designed by the artist Ingeborg Bukor. Her idea: the people seeking shelter from the rain under the umbrellas also want support and security in faith and in the community.
