Detailed description
Originally built as a three-aisled Romanesque church between 1227 and 1250, St. Peter’s was expanded into a five-aisled Gothic hall church during the 15th and 16th centuries. After its destruction in World War II, the reconstruction was not completed until 1987.
Today, St. Peter’s is a church of culture and academia, offering its magnificent space for dialogue between art, science, and faith. On the first Saturday of every month, at 11 p.m., the church hosts the “Petrivisionen” – late-night performances combining artistic, spiritual, and intellectual themes.
The current program is available online here. During the Christmas season, St. Peter’s transforms into a charming arts and crafts market.
