STREET FESTIVALS

Experience Lübeck first hand

Residents know each other well in the newly built founding quarter. So, it's no wonder that many street and courtyard communities have come together to celebrate and create something unique for you - be it a flea market or a coffee klatch with background music. Every street has its own character, which is always actively shaped and represented by the people who live in it. Stop by and get to know those that live in our special Old Town streets and courtyards!

The founding quarter
Braunstraße - Fischstraße - Alfstraße - Mengstraße - Neue Querstraße - Gerade Querstraße - Einhäuschenquerstraße
This year's host district of Lübeck - the Founders' Quarter - would like to introduce itself to you up close! The former merchants' quarter in the shadow of the majestic St Mary's Church was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. Now it shines in a new, modern splendour that sensitively blends in with the area's architectural history. There are many historical tours of the area, as well as exciting cellar tours that give an insight into the archaeological work that preceded the redevelopment of the Founding Quarter. The streets become a lively stage for music, dance, interactive children's programmes and culinary delights.

Lübeck Local Round
Fri, 5pm-11pm - Sat, 11am-11pm - Sun, 11am-6pm - Beckergrube, Höhe 39-61
Regionality is an important aspect of sustainability. Luckily, Lübeck is so diverse: from gastronomy and arts and crafts to music and non-profit organisations. Bülck Kaffee has invited regional partners to inspire you with food and drink and local arts and crafts.

Lübeck's club mile
Fri-Sun, all day ● On the Untertrave (between Fischergrube and Beckergrube)
Not everyone is lucky enough to live in the event district. Visit the stands of Lübeck's clubs and associations, who will be presenting themselves on the main festival mile. Each association has come up with a very special activity to draw attention to their work. Many of them do charitable work on a voluntary basis and look forward to your support. Together you are less alone, so why not come along?

The Clemensstraße
Fri-Sun, all day - Clemensstraße
What isn't on Clemensstraße? The street community has set up its own stage for entertainment throughout the weekend. The schickSAAL serves homemade chips and drinks, the Blauer Engel and Unklar sell delicious drinks, the Hausprojekt Marlene sells candyfloss, the artist Tiemo Schröder opens his studio in No. 3 and the owners of No. 5 offer guided tours of their house. And don't forget, the party really gets going after the festival.

Flea market in Braunstraße
Sat, 11-22am - Lower Braunstraße
This all-day residents' flea market stretches from Lederstraße to Untertrave and is a great place to shop and meet people. The entrance to the founding quarter can be explored with a little bargain hunting.

The Meng Street
Fri-Sun - Lower Meng Street
The street community here in the lower Mengstraße ranges from restaurant owners to hairdressers, from music schools to men's tailors. There's music in the youth hostel, a children's programme next door in the 'Röhre', magicians, music and a speakers' corner on the street where everyone can express their opinions. There is something for everyone.
