Water is Lübeck's elixir of life, the lifeline that surrounds the city on all sides. Without water, Lübeck would not be Lübeck. From the Wakenitz to the river Trave and the mighty Baltic Sea, everything flows. Of course, we are drawn to the water at every opportunity we get and with the river Obertrave on the festival’s doorstep, so will you. Whether you want to be shipped around on a boat or just sit down at waterside; there are many possibilities.
Water Adventure
Launch trips
Daily between 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. • Obertrave pier
Admittedly, you don't need a HanseKulturFestival to have a great city tour in Lübeck on our pretty launches around the Old Town Island. But it's nice that most of them start at the Obertrave, so you can easily get on board right at the festival site and be dropped off there again. The two providers Stühff and Quandt take you around the Old Town for about one hour between May and December for little money.
Boat Now
Daily 9 a.m.-8.30 p.m. • Obertrave pier
If you like things a little more interactive, our first e-boat hire company is the place to be. The clever and environmentally friendly e-boats can take a maximum of six people and you can explore the city independently from the waterside using two alternative routes. It’s fun!
