Die Reederin Hotel in Lübeck sets great store by sustainability, implementing various measures to protect resources. Shopping expeditions are largely accomplished using the cargo bike on the Old Town island. Cheese and eggs are purchased from a small cheese dairy and chicken farm belonging to the parents of the hotel owner. Bed linen and towels are also washed in the hotel itself, thus saving on transport and ensuring efficient washing powder dosages and laundry volumes. This guarantees a sustainable operation without having to compromise on service or quality.

Since the hotel opened in 2021, the owner has been actively committed to the sustainable use of resources as this is a subject close to her heart. Guests are encouraged to act sustainably, e.g. by using the Everything Off switch at the door to their room. Towels are not changed unnecessarily during mid-stay cleaning, and at breakfast food is served unpackaged to reduce waste.
