Right on the Wakenitz, the School Garden was first designed in 1913 to introduce gardening and applied biology to schoolchildren. After the 2nd World War, the garden was restored and today it can be visited free of charge as a botanical garden. Colourful beds of perennials are interspersed here with thematic gardens such as an Alpine Garden or natural biotopes such as ponds and meadows with over 70 species of plants – a green oasis just a short walk from the historic Old Town.
