The stages of Theater23 are constantly on the move.
This amalgamation of freelance actors who enliven the romantic ambience of the historical swimming pool at Wakenitz with their stagecraft has been in existence since 2008. Located a mere 600 metres to the east of the Old Town island, the open air swimming pool complex, built in 1899 and now a listed building, has preserved its very special charm. The wooden changing rooms and bathing platforms are still in use for swimming. There is a floating stage for theatre performances when the pool closes. Both the stage and the audience sitting on rustic wooden benches on land are covered to keep the rain off. But in the cold time of year, Theater23 moves to the warmer venue of KulturRösterei in Wahmstraße.
