University of Music Lübeck

The only music academy in Schleswig-Holstein is one of the most famous in the whole of Germany.

With around 300 concerts a year, it is also Schleswig-Holstein’s largest concert organiser. All those interested in music and who appreciate the ambience and casual international atmosphere will quickly become regular guests. The students perform on the stage from the start of their training. They give a taste of their musical skill in music classes, class evenings, exam concerts, symphony and choral concerts, opera performances, or studio concerts. The main focus is on a classical education but jazz, rock and pop are also occasionally to be found in the programme. Famous lecturers from the Academy of Music delight audiences during the annual Brahms Festival, a week-long event in May, with familiar and less well-known pieces by this late Romantic composer. The audience can listen for free to performances and exam pieces from students studying a variety of different styles nearly every evening at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. apart from the holidays.
