A high proportion of already invested, grey energy is used through the deployment of recycled materials and second-hand items of furniture. For example, the furniture comes from Swedish antique markets or is composed of family heirlooms. Through this approach, the hotel is making a contribution to the protection of resources and laying down a marker for sustainable treatment of the environment.

In Die Reederin Hotel, the focus is on sustainability. Since the hotel opened in 2021, the owner has been implementing measures to treat resources sustainably as this is a subject close to her heart. Guests are encouraged to act sustainably, e.g. by using the Everything Off switch at the door to their room. Towels are not changed unnecessarily during mid-stay cleaning, and at breakfast food is served unpackaged to reduce waste.
